Biennale Of Contemporary Keramics, Prehistoric Thera Museum, Santorini, GR, 2024
Biennale of Contemporary Keramics (BCK) is the First International Biennale of Contemporary Ceramics in Greece, which will take place on Santorini in 2024. Titled Clay Echoes: Unearthing Hidden Narratives it will comprise the central exhibition in the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, Santorini and a rich programme with educational activities and exhibitions in satellite sites throughout the island.
20 international artists with 20 original works inspired by the archaeological site of Akrotiri will participate. In collaboration with archaeologists, BCK 2024 has compiled detailed scientific and educational material about the archaeological site of Akrotiri. This was shared with the artists and will be free to access for use in educational programmes at schools.
Every two years, BCK will have a new profile on a new island, highlighting a different part of Greece to create new networks of local and international contacts as well as new fields for the promotion of art. During the “gap” years in between, the exhibition and the educational workshops will revisit a city in mainland Greece.
